Chipping Norton U12s were crowned joint winners of the Land Rover Cup held at Cheltenham Collage last Sunday. After 3 tough pool games, they drew with Minchinhampton in the quarter finals (progressing on try countback), won their semi-final with a last minute try against Dursley and proceeded to play Old Patesians in the final.

There was a crowd of several hundred watching the tense final in the glorious sunshine amongst the beautiful college buildings. The teams were all square at the end of normal time after an outstanding defensive display and incredibly the scores remained tied at 0-0 after two lots of extra time!

Countback confirmed that Old Patesians were ahead on try countbacks from the earlier stages however after such an extraordinary performance the organisers and coaches made the decision to crown both teams as tournament winners with The Chipping Norton coaches magnanimously opting to award the prize of Twickenham tickets to Old Patesians as our team had already secured tickets to Twickenham by winning the Worcester Festival back in November. The outcome left both sides delighted and with rugby values once again shining through. Well done to all the boys that participated last Sunday!
