It's most fitting in our 50th year Chipping Norton Rugby Club was given the opportunity to raise funds by hedge laying for a local farmer. As Chairman I was delighted to coordinate this project and so pleased to see Club members across the whole Club joined us over two weekends to lay in excess of 2.5 kilometres of hedge.
It was unforgiving work with Cotswold stone close the surface making it good body conditioning exercise and the weather on the Sunday ended up a mixture of 45 mile an hour winds and torrential rain.
But the Club pulled together and got the job done.
The culmination of this work was a £10,000 donation to the Club by Fir Farm, a fantastic level of support for a job well done. There's been much speculation about how this money will be spent. Unfortunately the gas boiler was condemned in early February so some of it has already been spent.
